A double bill of electric violins and drum dance with The Twoks and Dub ‘n Co.
The Old Castlemaine Gaol is proud to presenting a night of pseudo-impro, electric string orchestra, without the orchestra.
Featuring The Twoks, this Melbourne based duo have been making happy violin and drums dance improvised & composed music throughout the world for over four years. They have performed at numerous festivals including the St Kilda Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Woodford Folk Festival and continue to be invited to perform their highly-energetic, infectious and heart-wrenching music.
Unmatched in style, sound and stylistic diversity, The TWOKS will take you on a sonic adventure through dark, dense and tribal soundscapes, to sweet violinistic melodies and melancholy stories.
Dub ‘n Co featuring Nigel MacLean and guests is a cross culture electronic groove outfit that takes music from around the world and adds beats and instrumental flavours from electric violins, oud and bazouki. With influences from India to Iran and on to Ireland this unique duo will be accompanied by a video artist who layers images and provides a visual feast that compliments each piece of music.
