From a gypsy campfire to the lowdown bluesy sounds of New Orleans to the South American street party to the sophisticated inner city salon, The Date Brothers are presenting an action packed session of hot guitar playing which will delight your ears and blow your mind.
Although these talented siblings live in different countries, they are about to meet up in Australia and bring their combined talents to Castlemaine for one night only. This exciting night out will provide plenty of opportunity for all lovers of guitar to get up close to these amazing guitarists.
The idea behind the night is simple: to have a really great time playing the hell out of their guitars via an exciting hot jazz, blues and swing repertoire.
Ian and Nigel Date have travelled the world playing their unique blend of gypsy jazz, blues, Bach and beyond music. They make their music played with passion, humour and great style on beautiful acoustic guitars. Ian also sings and plays trumpet and is long regarded as one of the greatest guitarists to have emerged from Australia. Younger brother Nigel works as a full time guitar player working with many bands.
The Date Brothers have performed and recorded with people such as James Morrison, Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Taylor and Australian jazz legend Bob Barnard. Ian is based in Ireland and Nigel in Sydney so when they get together they are special events full of musical reworks.
