It all started when...
Calum McClure (General Manager) decided to move to Belfast to work as a sound engineer. There he met Gayle (Events Manager) and life was destined to lead them to prison. More specifically, to a 19th century prison located in rural Victoria, Australia.
Gayle had never heard of Castlemaine at that time, let alone visited it, but Calum being a Castlemainian for several generations, he always wanted to move home. Only trouble was that sound engineering and music/theatre jobs are hard to find in small towns. Simple (or actually quite difficult!) solution, they decided to create some. So with the help of the whole McClure family, the OCG business was born.
For 5 years, they have been developing it into an Arts & Tourist hub for Castlemaine, while researching & preserving the gaols rich history.
Now we have The Governor's Cafe onsite, historical and ghost tours running at weekends, live music events held behind the bars and under the stars, and even a new escape room - BREAKOUT! Who knew life in prison could be this entertaining!
